All employees and students who operate vehicles on campus must obtain or purchase a virtual parking permit valid for each academic year (Fall Semester through Summer Semester). virtual parking permits are non-refundable. Permit owners will be responsible for citations issued to vehicles that was assigned during purchase. They will also be responsible for citations issued to any vehicle registered within the date range of issued permit. It is the responsibility of the permit owner to renew virtual parking permits before the stated expiration date to avoid expired permit violations.
Special virtual parking permits and requests may be granted to individuals (on and off campus) for work and school related purposes at Valdosta State University. City Officials, Vendors/Contractors, VSU Administrators, Faculty, Staff, Departments, Organizations, Students and university guests should request parking accommodations through the Division of Auxiliary Services and the Parking & Transportation Department. It shall be the responsibility of the permit owner to correctly display the issued permit inside of their vehicle. Citations will be issued accordingly if the special permit is not visible.
The following types of permits are issued:
Reserved virtual parking permits are issued to full-time faculty and other employees designated as "Professional Administrative Staff" (monthly paid) employees upon purchase*. The Reserved virtual parking permit annual fee is $95.00. Individuals who are authorized a reserved virtual parking permit may utilize the following parking spaces: timed spaces (within the posted time limits), any spaces designated as reserved, staff, and those which are unmarked. Reserved permits do not allow the operator to park in disabled spaces (unless displaying the proper State of Georgia permit), fire lanes, visitor spaces, tow zones, and service vehicle spaces. Part-time adjunct faculty can purchase a reserved or staff permit.
Staff virtual parking permits are issued to full-time (bi-weekly paid) and half-time staff employees (excluding student assistants, graduate assistants and temporary full-time employees) upon purchase*. The staff virtual parking permit annual fee is $55.00. Individuals who are authorized a staff virtual parking permit may utilize the following parking spaces: timed spaces (within the posted time limits), any spaces designated as staff and those which are unmarked. Staff permits do not allow the operator to park in reserved, disabled spaces (unless displaying the proper state permit), fire lanes, visitor spaces, tow zones, service vehicle spaces and specifically designated reserved spaces.

- Students must park in their designated student areas throughout the entire academic year (August – July), even if not enrolled for one particular semester. Student statuses will change to guest/visitor once they have graduated from the university or is no longer enrolled for consecutive semesters (change to be determined by Parking Administration).
- Students cannot use reserved or staff virtual permits to park in employee lots or spaces while attending classes. Students will need to purchase a student virtual permit and park in their designate student areas while on campus.
- Student’s hired during the summer as a temporary staff (who already has a student permit), must park in their authorized student spaces. Students who are hired as a full time employee will be eligible for a staff or reserved virtual permit based on HR’s authorization form.
- Upon graduating from the university, students are classified as visitors if they are no longer taken any classes and not employed at the university. Non-students, non-employees must stop by the parking office to get a visitors parking permit before parking on campus. If the student permit is currently active, it will be voided.

virtual parking permits for special visitors, i.e. speakers, visiting teachers, consultants, special groups, etc., may be arranged through the Parking & Transportation Department.
* Re-assignment of virtual parking permits must be done properly through Parking & Transportation Supervisors as well as both parties involved (permit owner and individual accepting permit responsibility).
* Employees purchasing a virtual parking permit must have a zero citation balance. Any outstanding balance owed to Parking & Transportation will be deducted from employees final pay check during the exit process.
